Although a bringer of destruction has fallen, the ashen path that lies in his foot steps still blows embers in every direction. He may be gone, but so many take from the flame he started and set it in another direction. How can we rejoice in the wildfire around us when we've only doused a flickering candle? How can we rejoice when the ashes have penetrated our lungs and corrupted our voices?

Today Osama bin Laden was officially declared to be dead.
I don't think so. He wasn't a man. He wasn't a singular person.
His purpose was never to bring destruction to the physical realm.
He only succeeded in corrupting our hearts and our voices.
Fear never dies.

Whether it carries the face of Adolf Hitler or Osama bin Laden, fear never dies.

I was discussing this with my extremely liberal freshman English teacher, and his conclusion was, "Who cares? It only took us years and two million civilians, but we did it! [sarcastic yay] Now can we get out? I won't be able to listen to the news for the next three months." Before that, we watched Obama's speech in history and picked out all the political rhetoric, distilling down to "Osama is dead. Believe it was significant." Now that he has the potential to be considered a martyr by some circles, his death may have the same effect as adding the "EXPLICIT" labels to music.

[And as I'm listening to the radio, they're playing interviews with the families of 9/11 victims who are saying nothing at all insightful or surprising. "I'm glad he's dead." No really.]

A human being has been killed; let's celebrate.

This is a really bad sign for me. He might have been a bad guy that needed to be stopped, but his followers will not answer quietly..Couldn't they have just taken him alive?

I agree with you. Somehow, I sensed something that was about to change... really big.
